    Preface

Adequate anticoagulation during cardiac surgery and its effective reversal are routine tasks during cardiac anaesthesia but at the same time they pose a great challenge with a direct impact on patient outcomes if not managed carefully. Five international experts will highlight and discuss current topics and controversies in coagulation monitoring and therapy in contemporary cardiac anaesthesia practice. The organisers and speakers hope that the participants will not only gain knowledge about the current state of literature and research in this exciting field, but also gain an insight “behind the scenes” that will help them to evaluate or perhaps even question the advantages and disadvantages of indications and contraindications of particular therapeutic measures in their daily practice. We look forward to seeing you!
