Practical Aspects in Patient Blood Management
Program
Patient Blood Management improves patient outcomes by clinically managing and preserving patient’s own blood. The three pillars of this concept are diagnosis and treatment of anemia, minimization of blood loss, and avoidance of unnecessary transfusions.1 Despite the demonstrated benefits of Patient Blood Management, challenges, such as lack of expertise and resources or limited interdisciplinary commitment complicate translation of guidelines into clinical practice.2
This webinar is aimed to share experiences of two different Swiss hospitals with the implementation of a Patient Blood Management program.
